Peters Township beats USC, BP in golf
Peters Township defeated its Allegheny County rivals, Bethel Park and Upper St. Clair, in scholastic boys’ golf.
The Indians raised their overall record to 9-0 with a 187-222 win against the Black Hawks on their home course at Rolling Hills Country Club.
Jake Sollon and Tanner Johnson led the way. Both carded a 36, par for the course. Ben Morgret and Alex Stopperich finished with 38s while Connor Schmidt supplied a 39.
Alex Martin, Christian Ordonez, JW Cunningham and Brian Livolsi competed in an exhibition match.
Patrick Raymond, Josh Gatti, John Selep, Ben Wallace and Justin Hyrb competed for Bethel Park.
With the win against USC, PT improved to 3-0 in Section 7.
Sollon fired a 2-under-par 32 on the Terrace 9 at St. Clair Country Club to lead the Indians. Stopperich followed with a 36 while Connor Schmidt, Tanner Johnson and Hunter Bruce followed each other one stroke behind.
Zach Barone led the Panthers with a 35. Jack O’Leary, Brad Vespa, Louie Olsakovsky and Austin Cassidy completed the scoring for USC, which is 3-2 in the league.
Jack Steve, J.D. Ferry and Bryce Cooke played exhibitions for the Panthers while Cunningham, Livolsi, Martin and Ordonez did so for the Indians.
Other action
Lauren Waller led Canon-McMillan to victory against Trinity, 195-200. She broke even with a par 36.
Wes Keeling earned medalist honors, shooting a 39, as South Fayette defeated Keystone Oaks, 212-229.
Girls’ golf
Peters Township defeated Mt. Lebanon, 181-228, at Rolling Hills Country Club.
Mia Kness, Synclaire Kuhn and Allison Magyar all carded 44s to lead the Lady Indians. Brooke Hilden and Alyssa Parham followed for PT. Low scorers for the Lebo ladies included: Elise Petruska, Brynn Fuller-Becker, Marie Erickson, Kathryn Cushman and Isabella Romano.
Kness also led the Lady Indians to victory, 165-236, against Bethel Park. She shot an even-par 36.
