National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists

Several local high school students were named to the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program. The list of about 16,000 semifinalists were announced Sept. 10. The high school seniors will have the opportunity to continue in the competition for the 7,600 National Merit Scholarships, worth about $33 million. According to the NMSC in Evanston, Ill., about 90 percent of the semifinalists are expected to attain finalist standing and more than half of the finalists will win a scholarship.
