Wendy’s restaurant on Cochran Road in Scott Township should have a completely new look by the end of this year, as plans are underway to demolish the current restaurant and build a new one on the existing site.

Chris Mackenzie, lead architect for the project, was at the April 14 Scott Township Commissioners’ agenda meeting to answer questions and to share renderings of the new building, which will include Wi-Fi. Mackenzie said that the new building will be relocated on the site to allow for better traffic flow around the building. When asked about planned work on the steep slope behind the building, Mackenzie said that other than work on the water line and landscaping, they had no plans to disturb the steep slope.

Scott’s planning commission made favorable recommendations for referral to the board of commissioners at its April 1 meeting. The board of commissioners is expected to vote to grant preliminary and final approval to the project at the April 28 regular meeting.

Also discussed at the board’s April 14 meeting was the upcoming adoption of the township’s zoning ordinance. Scott has been in the process of updating the zoning ordinance, and the commissioners are expected to vote at the April 28 regular meeting to ratify the approval of a mailing which will be sent by April 22, notifying all township property owners about the adoption of the zoning ordinance. The board also plans to vote to advertise the zoning ordinance, and to vote to advertise a hearing before the board of commissioners on adoption of the zoning ordinance 7 p.m. May 26.

Township engineer Larry Lennon told the board that bids are scheduled to be opened on April 23 for the township’s 2015 roadway improvement project. Lennon also said engineers discovered three sewers that needed repairs prior to paving, as well as other sewer repairs that could be done after paving, as they were not under the roadway. The three repairs which need done before paving were estimated at $50,000. Lennon said they would bid the repairs, open the bids in May and schedule the work immediately so not to interfere with road paving.
