Shannon Conely will continue her basketball career at Canisius College in New York. The 5-9 guard expects to help the Golden Griffins both inside and outside.

The rising Bethel Park senior fired in 13.8 points per game last season. She helped the Hawks capture a section banner and post a 21-6 record, which included a 17-game winning streak and an appearance in the semifinals of the WPIAL Quad-A playoffs.

“Shannon works extremely hard,” said BP head coach Jonna Burke. “She knows what it takes to be successful and knows that it takes commitment. She’s a great example for younger kids in our program of how do things the right way. Shannon will only continue to improve.”

During the summer months, Conely honed her skills at the AAU level and earned a spot in the Under Armour All-American game along with Gina Vallecorsa, a rising senior at Bishop Canevin High School. Vallecorsa committed to California University of Pennsylvania, which won the NCAA Division II national title in March.

Conely and Vallecorsa were both Almanac Elite 11 all-stars as well as first-team all-section selections.

Vallecorsa led the Crusaders to the WPIAL Class AA finals and PIAA Final Four. She, too, averaged 13 points per game and pulled down seven rebounds an outing. As a freshman, she started on the Crusaders’ state championship club.
