A win-win for Bethel Park deer problem

2 min read

In response to the letter “Bethel Park has a deer problem” in the Aug. 5-11 Almanac, Whitetail Disabled Hunting and Associates have been in the South Hills area since 2010 and have been harvesting 90 plus adult deer from local back yards from willing homeowners and their neighbors, abiding by Pennsylvania Game Commission laws.

We also take out disabled men and women and minors on mentored hunts and donate harvested venison to Hunters Sharing the Harvest, which delivers meat to local food banks. Residents with a deer problem can contact us and give us permission to harvest deer from their property in the upcoming season. We also share the venison with the landowners if they would like. We leave no entrails on homeowners’ property. We take harvest to Kip’s Deer Processing, where homeowners can order a large variety of jerky, sausage and steaks to their liking at a great price.

It’s a win-win situation for all, and at the same time helps to keep the deer population at a manageable level at no cost to our community, unlike we saw in Mt. Lebanon last year. If you would like to participate in our organized hunt with our other 250 residents, contact us at whitetaildisabled@gmail.com and give us your address and number and we will check out the land area to see if it’s within the PA Game Commission laws.
