PGA Junior All-Stars advance

PGA Junior League All Star golfers from Valley Brook Country Club, St. Clair Country Club and Southpointe Golf Club advanced to play all-stars from Pittsburgh 2 District on Aug. 26 at the legendary Oakmont Country Club.
The Pittsburgh 2 District consists of PGA Junior League stars from Oakmont Country Club, The Pittsburgh Field Club and Fox Chapel Country Club.
PGA Junior League golf gives boys and girls, 13 and under, the opportunity to learn and play golf in a fun, social and team environment. Similar to other recreational league sports, PGA Junior League Golf participants play in team uniforms with numbered jerseys. PGA Junior League golfers learn the game and play under the direction of local professionals, who serve as team captains. The program has skyrocketed in popularity, growing from nearly 9,000 participants representing 700 teams in 2013, to 18,000 participants and 1,500 teams in 2014.
Local PGA Junior League All Stars include: (from Valley Brook) Jack Urban, Trent Pogachnik, Robby Parknavy, Delaney Kern and Brendan Kern (from St. Clair) John Takos, Ethan Rocks, Colton Shiry and Nathan Piatt (from Southpointe) Andrew Poon and Neil Joon.
Rachelle Rundell, assistant pro at Valley Brook and the team captain for the Valley Brook All Stars, stated, “It’s been a fantastic experience seeing our young golfers enjoying golf, competing with other talented area golfers and having fun while doing so.”
The winners of the regional match at Oakmont will advance to the “Final Four” for the section. They will play Aug. 30 in Cleveland.
