Red, Ripe and Roasted

Celebrate summer’s bounty at the 11th annual Red, Ripe and Roasted tomato and garlic festival, slated for 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 30 at Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens.

Benefitting the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, the event is held on Phipps’ front lawn and in the Outdoor Garden and features a variety of fun activities for adults and kids alike. Cafe Phipps will prepare and share a variety of dishes. There will also be cooking demonstrations, a garlic roast and a farmers market.

Home gardeners are invited to enter their ugliest, smallest or largest ripe tomatoes in the Tomato Contest for a chance to win special prizes.

Those donating a bag of fresh produce to the Food Bank will be admitted for free to the Red, Ripe and Roasted and Summer Flower Show.
