Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist to speak at Carnegie Music Hall

Literary Evening with Hector Tobar
Pittsburgh Arts & Lectures announces the appearance of Hector Tobar at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Carnegie Music Hall, Oakland. Tobar is the opening speaker of the 2015-16 season of Literary Evenings, Monday Night Lecture Series.
Tobar, son of Guatemalan immigrants, is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and Latin American scholar. His newest book, “Deep Down Dark: The Untold Stories of 33 Men Buried in a Chilean Mine and the Miracle That Set Them Free,” tells the story of the miners, who were trapped for 69 days in the San Jose mine that collapsed in 2010.
In addition to the miners’ story, Tobar will discuss his interest in and writings on working class issues, social and racial conflict, and immigration.
