Stephens recognized at Scott Twp. meeting

Scott Township Commissioners honored Craig Stephens at the final agenda meeting of 2015. Stephens has been a commissioner for 20 years. President David Jason read from the resolution, “the board honors and recognizes Craig Stephens for his commitment and service to the 7th ward.”
Several commissioners spoke of their memories serving with Stephens and the close bonds formed. Tom Castello humorously remembered “the dark days” when the township addressed its sewage needs. Residents would voice their frustrations at meetings that lasted past midnight. “We sometimes disagreed, but always walked in with a hello and out with a goodbye,” Castello said.
Jason revealed it was Stephens that helped him decide to run for office after he returned from serving in the armed services.
Stephens won a Nov. 2 election for District Justice. He will serve Green Tree, Heidelberg and Scott Township beginning January 4, 2016. He stated he is leaving “with mixed emotions … I’m looking forward to my new position but will miss you all.” He thanked the administration and staff saying, “you make us look good.”
The next regular meeting will take place at a special day and time 5 p.m. Dec. 21.
