The inbound side of the Fort Pitt Tunnel will be closed to traffic starting at 10 p.m., Feb 13 so crews can conduct ceiling tile removal and various repair work.

“The eastbound side will close to traffic around the clock through 6 a.m., Feb. 16. Signs will be posted to guide motorists,” said PennDOT spokesman Steve Cowan.

The posted detour will guide drivers to Route 51 and the West End (Exit 69C).

Then a full closure of I-376 West in both directions from I-79 to Green Tree will last from 10 p.m., Feb. 16 through 6 a.m. Feb. 17. Crews will be doing work on signs and overhead structures.

That will be followed by single-lane restrictions on both sides of the Fort Pitt Tunnel that start Feb. 16 and are scheduled each weeknight from 10 p.m. through 6 a.m.

A full closure of the inbound tunnel is also planned for the weekend of Feb. 20.

The work is part of a $14. 1 million project to repair the ceiling, camera systems, and the overall infrastructure of the tunnel.
