Putt represents USA in Moto Trials
Andrew Putt, 16, was selected to represent the USA in the Trial des Nations, which is the Olympic equivalent event for Moto Trials. The Trial des Nations was held in Andorra, a small country between France and Spain. The USA Team clinched third place out of 17 countries. The USA Team was on the podium with Sweden in second place and Germany in first place.
Next September, the Trial des Nations will be held in Tarragona, Spain, and Putt plans on being selected again for the USA Team. The Peters Township resident will compete in the Pro Class next summer for the 2015 U.S. National Moto Trials Series.
Moto Trials is a sport that involves riding a specialized motorcycle through an obstacle course of rocks, logs and hills in a slow, controlled manner with the goal of not putting a foot on the ground. It is not the same as motocross and is not based on time, rather precision and technique. The goal is to maintain balance and control in order to complete the course without penalties. Penalties are given each time a foot touches the ground.
