Upper St. Clair Day of Service
Forty students in grades 1-4, 23 aids in grades 5-12 and six adults spent Martin Luther King Jr. Day hosted by the Upper St. Clair Recreation Department at the Community & Recreation Center working on various community service projects. Volunteers made several fleece blankets and scarves which went to schools, libraries and senior centers. More than 26 dozen chocolate chip cookies were baked and given to a homeless service. A variety of dog and cat toys were made for animal rescue groups and handmade pop-up cards were delivered to hospitalized veterans. Last but not least, volunteers designed friendship bracelets for children in the Dominican Republic and crafted pipe-cleaner flower centerpieces for Meals on Wheels recipients.
