Bethel Park
Retail theft: Police assisted personnel at Giant Eagle on Library Road July 21 with a man who was asked to leave for giving people a hard time. Brandon Buerkle, 33, of Pittsburgh, was escorted from the store and charged with retail theft and possession, police said.
Public intoxication: After receiving numerous calls about an intoxicated male sitting on a bench at South Park Shops in front of Brentwood Bank, police arrested Joseph Liparulo, 25, of Bethel Park on July 23 and charged him with public intoxication. He was taken into custody and later released to a family member, police said.
Castle Shannon
Three arrested: Police arrested two people and cited another person in the 3900 block of Washington Road July 18 on various charges. Neil Turkaly, 19, of 506 Church St., Aliquippa, was charged with underage drinking. Brianna Ortiz, 21, of 1413 Bellaire Place, Pittsburgh, was charged with drug violations, and Cierra Crow, 20, of 1914 Woodward Place, Pittsburgh, was charged with underage drinking.
Burglary: Police responded to a burglary and forced entry overnight July 24 at a home on Grove Road.
Theft: Packages delivered to addresses on Hoodridge Drive on July 21 and 22 were reported stolen, police said.
Cecil Township
Garage burgled: Police are investigating a burglary that occurred July 21 at 8772 Nine Eighty Road, Canonsburg. According to reports, someone entered through the garage and took two flat-screen televisions valued at a total of $1,550 and a laptop computer valued at $700. The incident remains under investigation.
Peters Township
Criminal mischief: Vandalism occurred at a vacant house on Kuchinic Street in Venetia July 21. Police said the walls were spray painted and a first floor toilet was damaged. A ladies’ 10-speed bicycle valued at $100 was reported missing.
Items missing: Michael O’Toole, 61, of Sherwood Drive, McMurray, told police July 22 several pieces of softball equipment were taken from the bed of his truck that was parked at his house. Items missing include four softball bats, three softball gloves, five pairs of sunglasses and two equipment bags. Total value of the missing items is $2,650, police said. The incident remains under investigation.
Phone taken: Kristy M. Hartman, 36, of Vine Street, Canonsburg, told police someone took her 17-year-old daughter’s iPhone 5S while they were shopping for shoes July 22 at Kmart on Washington Road. The value of the phone is $600, police said. The incident remains under investigation.
Stolen bank card: Police are investigating a report of a stolen PNC debit card that occurred July 26 on Bower Hill Road in Venetia. According to reports, the victim was shopping with a friend and left her wallet with the card inside her car. She later discovered the card was missing and $168 had been withdrawn from her card from an ATM in Washington.
Two-vehicle accident: A two-vehicle accident occurred July 24 at the intersection of Hill Place and Springdale roads in Venetia. According to police, Jason Cirocco, 18, of Tuscany Estates Drive, Finleyville, was stopped at a stop sign when a vehicle driven by Geraldine Rossetti, 72, of Valley Road, Eighty Four, took a left hand turn too sharply and hit Cirroco’s vehicle. No one was injured, but both cars had to be towed.
Retail theft: Police are investigating a retail theft that took place July 25 at Kmart on Washington Road. According to police, a man came into the store with a small child. He went to the men’s clothing department and put several items in his shopping cart. Next, he allegedly went to the toy department where he concealed the clothing items in a plastic shopping bag. Police said he then went to the returns counter, returned the items and received a Kmart gift card and left the store.
Theft from vehicle: A drill and drill bits were reported stolen July 24 from a vehicle belonging to Dana Scharf, 43, of Houston when it was parked on Ashwood Drive in Venetia. The drill was later discovered at the Route 51 Quick Cash pawn shop in Pittsburgh, but the drill bits had already been sold. Value of the drill is $200, while the value of the drill bits is $50.
Upper St. Clair
Drug and retail arrest: Police arrested Matthew Jordan Saniga, 26, of McKees Rocks, at Target at South Hills Village Mall on July 21 and charged him with possession of drugs, drug paraphernalia and retail theft. According to police, Saniga had $70 in merchandise on him. He was searched and police discovered two syringes and five pills.
