Nominate a female in SD 37
Matt Smith recently resigned his state Senate seat that is largely based in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. As a registered Republican in that district, I think it’s time we begin to change the face of our party in Allegheny County. There has been an undeniable pattern of success in general elections for female Republican candidates in recent years, including Kim Ward (R-Westmoreland County) and Camera Bartolotta (R-Washington). Female candidates have proven to be harder to attack and more dynamic politically. The Republican Committee of Allegheny County has the opportunity to broaden its brand by putting forward a candidate that not only reflects their values, but also defies the stereotype of the GOP being a “party of old white men.” Currently, the RCAC has no female representation on the state level in the house or senate. I think it’s time we change that, by diversifying our ranks and nominating a female candidate in State Senate District 37.
