Pride at the Arcade
Arcade Comedy Theater in the Cultural District celebrates Pride Weekend with Pride at the Arcade, a weekend of LGBTQ comedy.
The event kicks off at 10 p.m. June 12 with games and prizes. Hosts Connor McCanlus and Mike Buzzelli are asking all the wrong questions at “Pride at the Arcade: Gayme Show Night.” During this gay game show that’s a mash up of “Hollywood Squares,” “Double Dare,” “Password,” “Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me” and “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” audience members will compete for prizes.
The show on June 13 begins with a bang at a special 6 p.m. show, “Pride at the Arcade: Golden Girls Live,” with a staged reading of two “Golden Girls” scripts with four out male actors in the roles of Dorothy, Blanche, Rose and Sophia. The night includes two classic episodes and a sing-a-long of “Thank You for Being a Friend.”
Also on Saturday, a classic Chicago-style improve show, “The Arcade Hootenanny,” will begin at 8 p.m., featuring monologist-inspired scenes, followed by “Pride at the Arcade: The ArGAYde Comedy Show” at 10 p.m.
