Torrente apartments open
The first tenants have already moved in as phase two of the 220-unit Torrente apartment complex nears its August 2015 completion date.
“We have about a dozen leases signed already, 90 apartments ready to go right now,” said developer RDC president John Deklewa, who was giving tours at the complex’s March 21 open house.
Sitting on 25 acres of land at the end of Boyce Plaza Road in Upper St. Clair, the nine-building complex will soon have plenty of stuff to do outside when residents aren’t looking out from private balconies.
“Lots of green space. We’re going to have our own walking trails as well as ones that connect to the trails of Boyce-Mayview Park,” Deklewa said. “That, in addition to a dog park area, a bacci ball court, horseshoe pit; and we’ll play up the location right next to the creek with some park benches and gazebos.”
Rent averages $1,250 for a single bedroom with 850 square feet, while a two-bedroom lease with 1,180 square feet goes for $1,500 per month.
“Add-ons include storage spaces and personal garages, each going for between $50-75,” he said.
Underground garages are the key design point, Deklew said, to allow for 220 apartments while still having green space.
“We didn’t want a sea of asphalt.”
Granite counter-tops, maple cabinets, walk-in closets and stainless steel appliances round out the apartments’ amenities. Deklewa said comfort and security is a concern both inside and outside the complex.
“We have 40 security cameras in areas inside and outside of the buildings … every building and every door is electronic key-in; there’s 24-hour maintenance, and every building has an elevator.”
The clubhouse is open 24 hours a day and can be rented for parties.
