Questions to ponder

2 min read

Voltaire (1694-1778) said, “Judge a man by his questions rather than his answers.”

OK.

• If all the deer currently roaming Mt. Lebanon are exterminated and none ever show up there again, what would the Trib’s Colin McNickley write about?

• Jeb Bush would probably do a good job as president, (hell, I probably would), but haven’t we had enough of the Bushes, the Clintons, the Kennedys and other would-be dynasties?

• Joe Sestak is running for the U.S. Senate again? Will we ever find out why he was demoted one star when he was an admiral in the U.S. Navy?

• Maureen Dowd and former Ambassador Dan Simpson wrote columns excoriating Hillary Clinton for using a private email account. Is it finally sinking in?

• Hard to believe, but most complaints about new cars involve the sound and electronic systems. But do the vehicles run properly?

• A recent column in The Almanac was by a man calling himself a “secular atheist.” How many different kinds are there?

• The day after the president vetoed the Keystone Pipeline bill, there was another derailment of oil tankers. Will congress have the you know what to eventually override the veto?

• Now that the NCAA has restored Joe Paterno’s wins, why is Penn State dragging its feet on putting his statue back at Beaver Stadium?

• Three members of the State House – all from the Philadelphia area – have been indicted on corruption charges. So what else is new?

• If I went to a police station – be it state, county or local – and asked to see copies of citations issued to motorists for failing to yield to pedestrians at a crosswalk, would I get one for harassment?

• Whatever became of Giant Eagle’s price war with WalMart?

• And why did the food chain discontinue carrying Florida’s Natural Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice? And replace it with their own brand, a product of vastly inferior quality and taste?

• In 2007, Lee Iacocca wrote a book titled “Where Have All The Leaders Gone?” Unfortunately, they are still around. Isn’t it time for term limits for all legislators and members of the U.S. supreme Court?
