Peters Township completed the golf season with runner-up honors in the state team competition for boys and bronze-medal laurels for the girls’ squad.

“In the big picture, to do what we’ve done with the programs, we’re pretty happy,” said David Kuhn, who coaches the boys’ team. “We’re on the map. We’ve done what we set out to accomplish. The kids should hold their heads high.”

The boys’ fell one stroke short of a PIAA championship. The Indians carded a 313 score while Radnor won the Class AAA title with a 312. Alec Stopperich led the PT boys with a 76 followed by Connor Schmidt and Tanner Johnson, both with 78s. Jake Sollon finished with an 81.

While North Allegheny ran away with the girls’ title, winning with a 353, 13 strokes ahead of Mt. St. Joseph, the Lady Indians took third with a 377 team score. Mia Kness led with a 79 followed by Brooke Hilden and Synclaire Kuhn, both with 98s. Alyssa Parham completed PT’s scoring.

Individually, Stopperich finished 14th in the PIAA finals. Schmidt and Johnson followed in 26th and 34th positions in the standings.

On the girls’ side, Kness finished fourth overall. She shot a 73-82-155 on the Heritage Hills Golf Course in York.
