Charlotte Madson made the most of her second chance. A late entry into the PIAA singles tennis tournament due to an injury to Natalia Perry from Franklin Regional, Madson filled the vacancy and earned a medal. The Upper St. Clair senior, who finished fourth in the WPIAL and served as the alternate for the PIAA AAA singles tennis tournament, replaced Perry and took third place.

Madson grabbed the bronze medal as she did in 2014. She won her consolation match against Payton Bradley of Downington West, 4-6, 7-5, 6-4.

In the opener at the Hershey Racquet Club, Madson outlasted Methacton’s Mihaela Cordreanu, 7-5, 7-5. She dispatched Lauren Fadden from McDowell, 6-2, 6-1, in the quarterfinals but met her match in Anna Li from North Allegheny in the semifinals. After winning the first set, 2-6, Madson succumbed, 6-4, 6-1. Li went on to battle Shady Side Academy’s Ananya Dua in the final.

Mt. Lebanon’s moment in the doubles tournament was brief as Kristi Riley and Skylar Morgan dropped their first round battle with Emma Clark and Amanda Baxter from West Chester Henderson. After winning the first set, 7-5, Riley and Morgan lost the next two sets, 7-5, 6-1.
