‘The Grand Manner’

Little Lake Theatre Company announces its next Main Stage production, “The Grand Manner” by celebrated dramatist A.R. Gurney. An ode to the grand and glorious heyday of Broadway theatre, the show runs Nov. 12-14, 19-21 and 27-28.

“I truly think anyone can relate to at least one character in this play,” said director TJ Firneno. “During one rehearsal, a Little Lake staff member was watching, and after a scene in which Broadway actress Katharine Cornell tells of how she feels “invisible,” the staff member told me and the actress playing Cornell that those lines hit her so hard, that she sometimes feels the same way, and many women her age do.” Firneno said it’s those types of connections that make this play a wonderful choice for the Little Lake community.

The show’s dynamic ensemble cast features Amy Bonner as Cornell’s comically businesslike manager Gertrude, James Curry as the buoyant, star-struck Peter, Patricia Fuchel as “First Lady of the American Theater” Katharine Cornell, and Keith Zagorski as Cornell’s overbearing husband and director Guthrie McClintic.

On opening night, Little Lake will host a cocktail hour with Wigle Whiskey. Taste samples, including Wigle’s Walkabout Pennsylvania Apple Whiskey, which will be featured in the show’s signature cocktail, the Big Apple Smash.
