Watch for emergency vehicle traffic in Mt. Lebanon

Mt. Lebanon Emergency Management Agency is partnering with several organizations for an emergency drill from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3.
The drill will begin at Baptist Homes, 489 Castle Shannon Blvd., where 30 Baptist Manor residents and 20 Mt. Lebanon school crossing guards will simulate an emergency situation involving a carbon monoxide leak.
The community should expect to see increased emergency vehicle traffic in the area that day, but there is no cause for alarm, Mt. Lebanon deputy fire Chief Chris Buttlar, who is in charge of operations and emergency management, said.
Mt. Lebanon police and fire departments, Medical Rescue Team South Authority, St. Clair Hospital, the Red Cross, and Providence Point will participate in the drill, responding as if it were an actual emergency, in accordance with their emergency plans.
“The drill is an opportunity for all participants to evaluate their existing emergency operations plans and build relationships that would be used in an actual emergency,” said Al Allison Jr., president and chief executive officer of Baptist Homes Society. “In the event of an actual emergency, responders are prepared and a coordinated response is in place. We are pleased to participate in this mock emergency and will work to minimize any inconvenience this may present for those in our communities and in the surrounding area.”
