Joe Bob Briggs to host Halloween party at The Hollywood

Oct. 17
Hollywood Halloween Party
Legendary film critic, writer and comic performer Joe Bob Briggs will host The Hollywood Theater’s annual Halloween Party on Oct. 17.
Briggs was contributing editor to the National Lampoon, freelance writer for Rolling Stone, Playboy, the Village Voice and Interview, and a commentator on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show.” He is best known and loved for his stint in the 1980s-90s as the redneck Texan with an avowed love of the drive-in on the TV programs “Joe Bob’s Drive-In Theater” on the Movie Channel and “MonsterVision” on TNT.
As part of the evening, Briggs will present the 1986 b-movie horror film “Trick or Treat,” directed by Charles Martin Smith and starring Marc Price, with cameos by heavy metal rockers Ozzy Osbourne and Gene Simmons. The film will be presented on a rare 35mm print. The evening will also include spooky treats and drinks, a costume contest with prizes, and a raffle with great items to benefit the Friends of the Hollywood Theater.
Doors will open at 6 p.m. for photos and autographs with Briggs (for an additional fee). Costume prizes and an introduction to the film begin at 8 p.m.
Tickets are $8 for members and $12 for non-members.
