Hazo to share past experiences through poetry

‘The Past Won’t Stay Behind You’
The Peters Township Public Library will host poet Dr. Samuel Hazo in “The Past Won’t Stay Behind You,” 2-3 p.m. Oct. 25 at the library. Hazo will share past experiences through his poetry.
Hazo is the author of books of poetry, fiction, essays and plays. He was the founder and director of the International Poetry Forum in Pittsburgh. He is also McAnulty Distinguished Professor of English Emeritus at Duquesne University, where he taught for 43 years. He was honored with the Griffin Award for Creative Writing from the University of Notre Dame, his alma mater, and was chosen to receive an honorary doctorate from Notre Dame University in 2008. He has been awarded 12 honorary doctorates. Hazo is a National Book Award Finalist and he was named Pennsylvania’s first State Poet by Governor Robert Casey in 1993, and he served until 2003.
