Bethel Park
Tools taken: A contractor working at the Walmart shopping complex told police Oct. 20 tools and equipment were taken from the job site. The incident remains under investigation.
Lawn mower stolen: A resident in the 6000 block of Library Road told police Oct. 21 that a lawn mower was missing from his shed. The incident remains under investigation.
Driver arrested: After receiving numerous reports of a vehicle driving all over the road Oct. 21, police found the vehicle in the parking lot of Walmart and arrested John Fisher, 33, of Bethel Park. He was charged with DUI, police said.
Shoplifter arrested: Police assisted Kohl’s loss prevention officers Oct. 23 with a female shoplifter. Jean Marie Ferito, 19, was discovered with a large amount of retail merchandise and was taken into custody, police said.
Three arrested: On Oct. 24, employees of Giant Eagle, 5055 Library Road, asked for assistance with three males who were causing trouble in the store. Police arrested Jaquan Calloway-Upshaw, 18, of Pittsburgh; Shakeem Short, 18, of Pittsburgh and a 14-year-old juvenile. The three males were charged with receiving stolen property, retail theft and trespass and drug violations. The juvenile was taken to Shuman Center.
Cecil Township
Wheel taken: Madison Schulenberg, an employee at the Hilton Garden Inn at Southpointe, told police Oct. 20 that someone removed the rear passenger-side tire from her 2000 Honda Accord that was parked in the employee lot. The incident remains under investigation.
Peters Township
Two-car accident: No one was hurt, but one car had to be towed after two vehicles collided in the southbound lane of Washington Road on Oct. 19, police said. According to reports, Craig Connors, 52, of Pearl Drive, Pittsburgh, stopped in the left lane. His car was then struck by a vehicle driven by Thomas M. Czarney, 25, of Portia Drive, Pittsburgh. Connors’ vehicle had to be towed from the scene.
Two vehicles towed: No one was hurt, but two cars had to be towed following an accident that took place Oct. 21 at the intersection of East McMurray and Valley Brook roads. According to reports, a vehicle driven by Maggie Simon, 16, of Castlebrooke Drive, Venetia, turned into the path of a vehicle driven by Joshua Viboch, 18, of Scott Lane, Venetia.
One vehicle disabled: A vehicle driven by B.J. Yeats, 85, of Bryan, Texas, struck the rear of a vehicle driven by his son, Scott Yeats, 45, of King Richard Drive, McMurray, on Crosswinds Drive at the entrance of Donaldson’s Crossroads Oct. 21. According to police, the elder Yeats’ vehicle became disabled because it struck a trailer hitch on the rear of his son’s car.
Thefts: Police said a homeowner in the 300 block of Hedgerow Drive, Venetia, found a person in his garage Oct. 23 who was in the process of removing a purse containing $1,900 worth of contents from a vehicle. The man fled before police could arrive. While at the Hedgerow residence, police discovered three bags of clothing that had been reported missing from a homeowner in the 400 block of Longleaf Drive in Venetia.
South Fayette
One hurt: Dorothy Branch, 80, of 201 Parks Road, McDonald, was injured Oct. 25 when her vehicle struck a concrete barrier on Mitchell Street. Police said her air bag deployed and she was taken to St. Clair Hospital as a precaution.
