‘Old’ Upper St. Clair rec center may get new name

By Terry Kish 1 min read

Upper St. Clair’s “old” recreation center at 1770 McLaughlin Run Road may soon have a new name.

During the USC board of commissioners’ Aug. 31 informational and general affairs meeting, township manager Matthew Serakowski said that staff members are recommending re-naming the McLaughlin Run Road building.

Serakowski said that it has been six years since the Community & Recreation Center at Boyce Mayview Park opened. Since then, the building on McLaughlin Run Road has been known as the “old” recreation center. Township staff has recommended renaming the facility the McLaughlin Run Activity Center, or MAC.

Serakowski said this is not the first time the building was renamed; in 1967, it was the “Teen Canteen.”

The board is expected to act on the recommendation at its Sept. 8 regular meeting.
