Retired Men meet
Retired Men’s Luncheon Group of Pleasant Hills will meet at noon Sept. 17 in the Fellowship Hall of the Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church. Alvin Henderson Jr., chief of Allegheny County Emergency Services, will discuss what is available to Pleasant Hills and other communities. Cost of lunch is $7. Call the church office at 412-655-2000 by Sept. 11 to be included in the lunch order.
Luncheon/movie
Register by Sept. 11 for Mt. Lebanon Recreation’s senior luncheon and movie matinee, set for Sept. 15 on the second floor of the Mt. Lebanon Rec Center, Room A. The event is for senior adults and their adult guests (Mt. Lebanon residency not required). Check in at the Rec Office at 10:30 a.m. Karen Timko, Esq., will present “Essential Legal Documents for Long Term Care Planning” at 11. At noon, a hot buffet lunch will be served followed by a movie on the big screen at 1. Fee is $6/person. Preregister. Walk-ins are not encouraged and will only be accepted if space permits. Open house
Concordia of the South Hills, Scott, will host an open house 1-3 p.m. Sept. 13 at the community, located on Bower Hill Road. Tour the building and learn about the retirement community. AIC meets
The Adult Interest Center at Southminster Presbyterian Church, Mt. Lebanon, reopens for its fall season on Sept. 11, offering entertainment, information, fellowship and a meal for active, older adults. Programs are held at 11 a.m. Fridays, September through June, and are free and open to the public. Lunch is served at noon for $6; reservations are not necessary. September programs include Rick Purcell and Shari Richards perform from the Great American Songbook on Sept. 11; on Sept. 18, Walt Olsen entertains with the classics of the golden era at Mr. Banjo’s Old Time Sing-Along; and on Sept. 25, Craig Zinger will mix Steelers songs with piano numbers. Senior fair
Baptist Homes Society will present a Senior Health & Wellness Fair 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 22 at The Galleria of Mt. Lebanon. A mall walk will take place at 9:30 a.m. with a free pedometer going to the first 10 walkers. The event will feature more than 50 exhibitors, flu shots and health checks, a senior fashion show, entertainment, exercise demos and other events, plus raffles and giveaways. Day trip
The Hilltoppers of Scott Township will offer a day trip to see “Jersey Boys” at The Benedum Center Oct. 1. Cost of $120 per person includes motorcoach and dinner at Buca di Beppo. For travel information, call 412-279-0406.
