The weather cooperated fully for the annual edition of The Almanac/VFW Golf Classic on Monday.
Sunshine and mild temperatures greeted golfers who participated in the event, which benefits the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 764 Ambulance Service in Peters Township.
The tournament, which has taken place each year for more than two decades, is the chief fundraiser for the ambulance service, the only such service still owned by a VFW. Last year’s event raised about $10,000.
The ambulance service was formed in 1963, was started following a fatal automobile accident on Route 19. The service now averages 2,500 calls per year.
