Peters Township drops first game

After posting hard-fought wins against rivals such as Mt. Lebanon, 2-1, in overtime and Bethel Park, 3-1, Peters Township suffered its first loss of the soccer season to North Allegheny, 2-1.
Both NA scores came in the first five minutes of the match. Michael Peters delivered both goals. Rex Heuler scored the lone goal for the Indians.
In the win against Lebo, Logan Brinsky scored both tallies. Brinsky tacked on two more goals in the victory against the Black Hawks. Rex Heuler registered the other goal.
Noah Friday scored for the Black Hawks and Cory Ward posted three saves.
Though BP held the advantage in time of possession, Justin Gamble kept PT in the contest with his net-minding skills. He racked up eight saves, including several sensational stops to preserve the victory.

Behind the goalkeepring of Reilly McGlumphy, the Lady Indians also defeated Bethel Park, 2-0. Madeline LaVigna helped protect the shutout when she cleared a shot off the goal line with under five minutes to play.
Junior Mia Toscano and sophomore Bree Latsko scored for Peters Township.
In the Section 4-AAA opener, an 11-0 win against Brashear, LaVigna and Maggie Simon registered hat tricks for the Lady Indians. In follow-up action, PT edged Moon, 1-0, on a goal from Emily Cottrill. Mia Toscano garnered an assist and McGlumphy recorded the shutout.
Previously, BP edged Penn-Trafford, 2-1. Savannah Popp scored the game-winning goal in overtime. Marissa Johnson picked up the first gal of the game for the Lady Hawks.
Meanwhile, the BP boys edged Upper St. Clair, 1-0, in a non-section clash.
South Fayette
South Fayette defeated Belle Vernon, 3-1, in girls’ soccer. Autumn Heineman, Brenna McGuire and Megan Hoerger scored for the Lady Lions.
In boys’ action, Nick Aul racked up four goals to lead SF to victory, 10-0, against Steel Valley in Section 5-AA.
Brandon Beneditte scored twice to propel Seton-LaSalle to victory over Brentwood, 5-0, in Section 3 play.
