Matt Wilson has joined Primerica and is now licensed for both securities and life insurance. Wilson is a 1985 graduate of Robert Morris University with a BSBA in marketing and a 2007 graduate of the University of Phoenix with a degree in IT. An Urban Impact Foundation volunteer and coach, Wilson resides in Peters Township with his wife, Sheril, and children, Zachary and Morgan.
Parknavy Advertising, Inc. was recognized twice at the 36th Annual Telly Awards, coming away with two Bronze Telly Awards in the Local Promotional/Branding and Cause Marketing categories. A judging panel of over 500 accomplished industry professionals from across the country judged the competition.
“We’re honored that two of our TV commercials stood out among more than 12,000 entrees submitted from 50 states and five continents,” stated Upper St. Clair resident Robert M. Parknavy, president of Parknavy Advertising, Inc. with offices in Collier Township. “Now entering our 29th year of business, I am extremely proud to be recognized for our creative talents for the development and production of TV campaigns for two of our automotive clients – DAY Automotive Group & Mick’s North Hills Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge & Ram.”
Debbie Numrich Campbell, owner of DAY Automotive and native of Upper St. Clair, utilized Parknavy Advertising, Inc., for the creative development and production of the TV spot entitled “Making Strides,” which promotes breast cancer awareness.
The Telly Awards is the premier award honoring outstanding TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and online commercials, video and films.
Kara D. Mostowy of Upper St. Clair has joined the Watson Institute as its chief development officer. She will oversee Watson’s development operations, including relationships with foundations and corporations, as well as its major and planned giving programs, while expanding visibility and developing collaborative partnerships.
Mostowy joined The Early Learning Institute, a nonprofit organization that provides early intervention and early education to children with developmental delays, in 2005 as the director of development. Since 2008 she has served as TELI’s executive director. Most recently, Mostowy was the COO with Maher Duessel, a regional accounting firm specializing in nonprofit and government audit and tax services.
Mostowy holds a bachelor’s degree in English and a master of science degree in nonprofit management, both from Robert Morris University. She has held the Certified Fund Raising Executive credential since 2001.
The Watson Institute educates children and youth with special needs, including autism spectrum disorders, neurological impairments, or serious emotional challenges, and trains the professionals and pre-professionals who serve them.
Jamie Nathan has taken the position of aquatics director at The Jewish Community Center-South Hills. Nathan, who has been teaching swim lessons for 20 years to all ages and skill levels, from babies to adults, will share teaching group swim lessons, private lessons and instructional swim for the Early Childhood Education Center children with Shawn McClure, assistant aquatics director.
Nathan started at the JCC as a lifeguard in 2003. Four months later, she was named assistant aquatics director for the JCC in Squirrel Hill, a position she held until 2009. She was aquatics manager at Club One from 2009-2014, and in October 2014 returned to the JCC in Squirrel Hill to teach swimming.
Nathan is a graduate of Chartiers Valley High School and earned her bachelor of arts in English/journalism and master of science in science/multimedia from California University of Pennsylvania.
A South Hills native, she will soon be residing in Scott with her husband, Taylor Nathan, and their daughters.
Mary Sullivan, a project manager at the National Energy Technology Laboratory, has received the prestigious Silver Award for Non-Supervisory Professionals from the Federal Executive Board in recognition of her project management, engineering and communication skills; effective teamwork and leadership; and community service.
Sullivan, who was raised in Scott Township and currently lives in Upper St. Clair, was awarded the prize at the Federal Executive Board’s Woman of the Year Awards Luncheon held Aug. 27 in Pittsburgh as part of Women’s Equality Day.
The award was bestowed in recognition of her long record of success and dedication to teamwork. Sullivan has earned a reputation for providing exceptional support to NETL technology managers in complex meetings and discussions focused on cutting-edge energy research topics, as well as outstanding work communicating NETL’s mission and accomplishments to the nation through the development of effective technical presentations and other outreach tools.
Sullivan earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and an MBA from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University. At NETL, she works in the Storage Division of the Strategic Center for Coal where she specializes in carbon storage and manages several challenging projects.
She currently manages 10 grants and cooperative agreements with universities, industry, national laboratories and small businesses related to the injection and safe, long-term underground storage of carbon dioxide to reduce emissions and mitigate global climate change.
A specific accomplishment that drew the attention of judges was her successful negotiation of a $5.2 million project designed to evaluate the carbon dioxide storage and enhanced oil recovery potential in the Bakken Formation through laboratory analyses and pilot-scale field injection testing.
Outside of NETL, Sullivan volunteers at her daughters’ elementary school where she talks to children about pursuing careers in engineering. She is also a volunteer with the Upper St. Clair Swim Club and serves on her community homeowners’ board.
