Hollywood kicks off new fall series, Brew Cinema

Sept. 24
Brew Cinema
Cinema 412 (formerly Secret Cinema) is starting a new ongoing monthly series at The Hollywood Theater called Brew Cinema. This time around, the fundraiser, set for Sept. 24, will benefit both Beverly’s Birthdays of Pittsburgh and the Hollywood Theater.
“We wanted to promote local breweries each month and raise money for the theater and other local nonprofits,” said organizer and event founder Colin Matthews. “Ultimately, this gives us a chance to showcase the theater each month and build some great relationships throughout the city.”
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the screening of “Galaxy Quest” at 8 p.m. For the first hour and a half, patrons will be able to sample brews from Homestead-based Voodoo Brewing Company.
Tickets are now on sale and cost $10 for general admission. Posters are an additional $30.
Future fall screenings include “Tremors” on Oct. 16, benefitting The Hollywood Theater and the American Heart Association with art by Brian Gonnella and brews by Grist House Brewing; “Planes, Trains & Automobiles” on Nov. 12, benfitting The Hollywood and Habitat for Humanity with art by Joe Mruk and brews by North Country Brewing Company; and “Mouse Hunt” on Dec. 17, benefitting The Hollywood and Jameson’s Army with art by Brian Holderman and brews by Spoonwood Brewing Co.
