A 20-year-old Peters Township man was pronounced dead Saturday afternoon in the emergency room of Canonsburg Hospital, the victim of a likely accidental fall into the family’s pond.

According to a release from Washington County Coroner Timothy Warco, Peter Teris was on his Fox Run Road property when a caregiver witnessed him fall into the pond about 3:30 p.m. Teris, who was diagnosed with a seizure disorder, was removed from the pond by the caregiver, who administered CPR and notified 911.

He was transported to Canonsburg Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:18 p.m.

Warco believes the death was accidental, though the cause and manner of death are pending.

The death is under investigation by Peters Township Police Department and will proceed after the coroner’s ruling, according to Chief Harry Fruecht.
