At Bower Hill Community Church, Mt. Lebanon, the Adult Education Class will present Todd Behanna, human resources specialist at the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, at 10:45 a.m. May 1. At Christ the Redeemer Anglican Church, Canonsburg, services featuring informal Holy Communion, Children’s Christian Ed. and nursery care are held at 5 p.m. Saturdays. On Sundays, traditional liturgy featuring hymns and praise, Children’s Christian Ed. and nursery care take place at 9:30 a.m.
At Christ United Methodist Church, Bethel Park, a groundbreaking for the Giving Hope missions and building project will take place at noon May 1, featuring a celebration on the church grounds.
The mission portion of Giving Hope will substantially impact several local ministries and will build a remote clinic in Zimbabwe, which will affect the lives of thousands of people otherwise without health care. The construction portion at the church includes renovation of and additions to the existing building. Areas improved include additional space for children, youth, Prime Time adult day care and a grand Community Square – or “hub” – enabling all to gather in a central area. The ceremony will take place on Highland Road near the second entrance to the church (coming from Route 19). The ceremonial soil-turning will involve a representative of each aspect of the project. Refreshments and activities fit for the day will be available. The construction process will begin sometime in the early summer of 2016 and should be completed by fall of 2017.

• Women’s Garden Getaway Retreat, April 29-30. Friday begins with dinner from 5:30-6:30 p.m. followed by sessions from 6:40-8:45 p.m.; Saturday begins with breakfast at 8:30 a.m. and sessions from 9:10 a.m.- 2 p.m. This garden-themed retreat for women includes worship, Bible study and time for laughter and quiet reflection. • Christ Church has five worship services each weekend, including: Saturday night at 6 p.m., and Sunday at 9:01, 9:30 and two simultaneous services at 11 a.m.

At South Hills Assembly of God, Bethel Park, Grief Share, a bereavement support group led by Pastor Pat Sutton, meets 10 a.m.-noon or 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursdays, through June 30. Find help for the grieving process through this Bible-based support group. Class consists of DVD teaching followed by discussion and sharing with others also on the grief journey.
