Mt. Lebanon swims earn All-America honors
Brian Ramsey led the list of Mt. Lebanon High School swimmers earning NISCA/Speedo All-America honors.
The incoming University of Pittsburgh freshman gained distinction in two individual events and two relays during the past scholastic season.
Ramsey, who recently participated in the U.S. Olympic Trials, managed the status in the 200-yard individual medley and 100 breaststroke.
In the breast event, he and teammate Jack Lanphear shattered the WPIAL record. Lanphear won the race by a scant margin. The pair helped the medley relay, which also involved Jackson Kish and Gabe Ness, pick up All-America recognition as well.
Ramsey, Nass, Jake Bumgarner and Jack Rice won the acclaim in the 400 free relay.
On the female side, Trinity Ward achieved All-America laurels in the 100 fly and free, along with the 200 medley and 400 free relays. The medley also consisted of Emma Graham, Sophia Donati and Angie Gyurina. The free unit also involved Donati, Alison Shapiro and Hannah Bumgarner.
The 200 free relay team also made the cut. The foursome featured Shapiro, Bumgarner, Gyurina and Emma Buerger.
Coached by Tom Donati, the Blue Devils finished as the district runners-up in both the girls’ and boys’ team competition.
