At Christ United Methodist Church, Bethel Park, Sing With Us choir kickoff will be held the week of Sept. 7-11. Rhymes and Rhythms, youngest group, rehearses at 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. beginning Sept. 7. Children’s Choirs, first through sixth grades, rehearse at 4:15 p.m. beginning Sept. 7. Chapel Choir for seventh through 12th grades, a group that sings and plays various instruments, is the musical leader for 9:30 a.m. worship and goes on tour each summer. The choir rehearses at 3:45 p.m. the first week and 4:30 p.m. subsequent weeks beginning Sept. 11. Chancel Choir, for adults 18 and older, rehearses at 7:30 p.m. beginning Sept. 8. At Community of Christ Church, Bethel Park, Retired Lieutenant Commander Todd McIntyre and his wife, Karla, will be the guest speakers at the 10:45 a.m. Sept. 11 service. Todd is a 27-year Navy veteran who was injured in a diving accident. A potluck lunch will follow. Bring a dish to share.
At Crossroads Ministries, Finleyville, “Clubhouse Kids” runs from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Wednesdays, beginning Sept. 7. Clubhouse Kids is designed with a strategy to shape the character and faith of children ages 3 through fifth grade. At Hamilton Presbyterian Church, Bethel Park, Rally Day will be held Sept. 11. Sunday School for all ages resumes at 9:30 a.m., Traditional Worship moves back to 11 a.m., and the Chancel Choir returns. The Early Sabbath, contemporary service, continues Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.
At St. Bernard Parish, Mt. Lebanon, the eight-week Bible study Follow Me: Meeting Jesus in the Gospel of John will be offered from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 12-Oct. 31, in Clairvaux Hall (below the church). Each week there will be a video presentation followed by group discussion and fellowship. In the eight, 30-minute videos, Dr. Edward Sri will explain how Christ’s encounters with his disciples, the Samaritan woman, the man born blind and others are examples of how he calls each of us to a more intimate and life-changing relationship with him. Early registration fee is $17 (workbook cost) and due by Sept. 1. Cost increases to $20 after Sept. 2. At St. David’s Episcopal Church, located on East McMurray Road in Venetia, the fifth annual end-of-summer picnic will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Sept. 11. Enjoy hot dogs, hamburgers, veggie burgers, salads, grilled vegetables, snacks and desserts. Gluten-free and vegetarian options will be provided. Activities will include bounce houses for the kids, as well as games for children and adults hosted by City of Play. Sunday worship is at 10 a.m., with Bishop Dorsey McConnell of the Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh visiting and preaching.
