Bethel Park
Under the influence: Bethel Park police said that on Aug. 26, a local bank manager called with concerns about a contractor on the scene who was doing work but acting strangely before losing consciousness. Christopher Elkins, 35, of Copley, Ohio, was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance, according to police. He was transported to Allegheny County Jail.
Retail theft: On Aug. 27, employees at Macy’s at South Hills Village Mall called Bethel Park police for assistance with a suspected shoplifter who ran from loss-prevention officers. Police said that Ronald Gaines, 27, of Brighton Heights was found on the Port Authority’s light-rail transit platform near the mall, and that Macy’s will file private prosecution.
Warrant arrest: On Aug. 28, loss prevention officers at Macy’s at South Hills Village Mall called Bethel Park police for assistance with a woman they took into custody. Police said they learned that Nicholle Lee, 28, of Connellsville had a warrant out for her arrest by Pennsylvania State Police in Uniontown. She was picked up by state troopers, and Macy’s will file private prosecution for the theft, according to police.
Peters Township
DUI crash: Police said that Patricia Lashawn Reed, 34, of 2906 Overhill St., South Park Township, wrecked her vehicle into a guardrail, flipping the car onto its roof, at 12:50 a.m. Aug. 28 in the 800 block of East McMurray Road. Police said she agreed to submit a blood-alcohol test, which came back at 0.170 percent. She was charged with driving under the influence of the highest rate of alcohol, incapable of safe driving and careless driving, according to police.
Vehicle damaged: A vehicle was reported damaged on the 100 block of Simmons Road at 9:45 a.m. Aug. 28. The vehicle had eggs and strawberries smashed on the hood and driver’s side, and washing it revealed damages, police said.
