The Children’s Choir from The Bible Chapel sings holiday favorites.

With no snow to be found, Santa Claus had to arrive at Peters Township Public Library in a conveyance other than a sleigh.

And so the friendly folks with the local fire department gave St. Nick a ride to his appointed round: Light-Up Night, heralding the holidays on a chilly but relatively dry Sunday.

The Children’s Choir from The Bible Chapel provided musical accompaniment with a series of seasonal favorites, including songs they will perform when the church’s South Hills campus hosts “Home for Christmas: A Musical Production” at 7 p.m. Dec. 9 and 6:30 p.m. Dec. 11.

As the singers wrapped up, the lights went on to proclaim “Season’s Greetings” in front of the library. Then the lights of a fire engine proclaimed Santa’s arrival, and everyone in attendance followed him into the building for warmth, refreshments and a sense of community.

Along with telling the jolly man in the red suit what they want for Christmas, children also had the opportunity to make a craft, a little gingerbread house that they could take home with them, along with their memories of a special evening.
