At the Bible Chapel, Peters Township, the musical “Home for Christmas” will be performed from 7 to 9 p.m. Dec. 9 and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 11. Child care is available. Register online.
• Chapel Sages for seniors, 6 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 16. This annual celebration of the birth of Christ includes biblical readings of the Christmas story and singing of traditional Christmas hymns with performances by Grace Christian Dance. At Christ United Methodist Church, Bethel Park, a Luncheon and Carols of Christmas, sponsored by the United Methodist Women, will be held at noon on Dec. 8. Gather for lunch and a program of four-part carols with Ryan Keeling and friends, then join in a sing-along of Christmas music. Lunch cost is $9.
• “Why Be a Christian?” explores the multifaceted ideas of the Christian faith, including Sin and Grace, Love and Justice, and Truth and Hope. The final two classes are from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. Sundays, Dec. 11 and 18.
• Festival of Lessons & Carols, 11 a.m. Dec. 11. Bible readings will tell the story of Christmas as the choirs create the sounds of the season, and the congregation joins in traditional carols. The morning follows an old English tradition still used in many churches and cathedrals today, most notably, at King’s College Chapel, Cambridge.
• Adult Fellowship Luncheon: “Christmas Music, Memories and Merriment,” noon Dec. 14. Enjoy a light lunch (club wrap, fruit, soup and dessert) followed by a seasonal program of music. Bring along a small item that holds a special Christmas memory. The afternoon will end with games. Lunch is $9.

At Church of the Covenant, located on East Beau Street in Washington, a Blue Christmas Service will be offered from 6 to 7 p.m. Dec. 11. This quiet and reflective candlelight service will use prayer, music, poetry and scripture to acknowledge the pain and sadness many people experience as the holidays approach.
At Community of Christ Church, located on South Park Road in Bethel Park, a free drive-through live Nativity is planned from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 10. Enjoy 10 outdoor scenes, with live actors and animals from the comfort of your car as you drive through a luminaria-lit path that depicts the journey to Bethlehem and the birth of Jesus. At historic Old St. Luke’s Church, located on Old Washington Pike, Scott, the Traditional Christmas Lessons and Carols will be offered at 4 p.m. Dec. 11.
At South Hills Assembly of God, Bethel Park, Jingle in the City, a Broadway-style musical presented by the Fine Arts Department, is planned for Dec. 9-11. Set in New York City in the 1940’s, the story follows a group of homeless orphans who, though sometimes misguided, will steal your hearts as they learn what it means to be loved and to belong. Packed with original songs and traditional favorites, performances are at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. Sunday. Admission is free, but a free-will offering will be taken.
• Christmas program, presented by the middle school band and chorus of Hillcrest Christian Academy, 7 p.m. Dec. 12 in the church sanctuary. Free admission.
• Women of Excellence, led by Pastor Sue Willis and Dedi Kramer, meets at 10 a.m. Dec. 13. Women of all ages will be encouraged, equipped and empowered through the word of God. Theme: A Study on the Holy Spirit, with DVD by John Bevere.
• Lunch Bunch Bible study and luncheon for adults, noon to 2 p.m. Dec. 15. Cost of $6 includes lunch. RSVP by Dec. 13.
