At the Bible Chapel, Peters Township, Chapel Sages for seniors will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 16. This annual celebration of the birth of Christ includes biblical readings of the Christmas story and singing of traditional Christmas hymns with performances by Grace Christian Dance. At Christ United Methodist Church, Bethel Park, The Longest Night, a candlelit Christmas Celebration of Gratitude and Blessings, will take place from 7 to 7:45 p.m. Dec. 21, in the Worship Garden (weather permitting). Welcome a new service for the Christmas season on the winter solstice – the longest night of the year. This casual service of scripture, prayer, prose and music will celebrate our blessings and reflect on reasons to be thankful.

At Church of the Atonement, located on Washington Avenue in Carnegie, a free Christmas dinner will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Dec. 25. Shut-ins are asked to call Joyce at 412-276-0366 no later than Dec. 21 to place an order. There is no charge for dinner or local delivery.
At Crossroads Church of Christ, located on Thomas Road in McMurray, Bible study for all ages begins at 9:30 a.m. Sunday (nursery available), followed by worship at 10:30 (nursery and cry room available).

At First Presbyterian Church of Castle Shannon, the annual Christmas Day Dinner will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 25, in the social hall of First Presbyterian Church of Castle Shannon, located on Poplar Avenue. The dinner is being held in conjunction with Bethany Lutheran Church of Dormont and Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church. A ham dinner will be provided free of charge for those who might otherwise be alone for the holiday and for those in need. Local delivery is available for shut-ins. Those planning to eat at the church can call that same number between the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to make a reservation (not required, but appreciated).
