Alternative comics highlight two exhibits at ToonSeum

The ToonSeum, Pittsburgh’s museum for cartoon art, announces two exhibits, Alt-Weekly Comics and Fear of A Black Marker: Cartoons by Keith Knight, Gentleman Cartoonist, both running through April 10.
Alt-Weekly Comics is a historical retrospective dedicated to the comics of the alternative weekly newspaper world. This exhibit is comprised of original artwork, artifacts and ephemera that reveal the diversity of artistic and storytelling styles of this important and influential genre.
Fear of A Black Marker: Cartoons by Keith Knight, Gentleman Cartoonist will present dozens of comic strips by Knight, including a selection of his (Th)ink series, which has appeared in numerous African-American newspapers and websites. Knight takes on the serious topics of race, gun violence and police brutality with intelligence, grace and humor.
The ToonSeum is located at 945 Liberty Ave. in Pittsburgh’s Cultural District. Admission is $8 for adults and children ages 13 and older. Children age 6-12 are $4 and children 5 and under are free.
