Feb. 24 column misleading

1 min read

Oren Spiegler is a frequent letter and column contributor to your local community newspaper, and in general I agree with his opinions on a range of subjects. However, his latest column on the Wood St. T station attack (Feb. 24) is misleading, in that he blames equally all five of the young men for what occurred. Only one of them threw the victim down onto the tracks, and the same one beat on him after he came back up onto the platform. The video of that is disturbing. He will be in court soon, and rightly so. The other four were not physically in contact with the man at all; almost too drunk to do so, anyway. They would be complicit in not restraining the bad guy. So their fate was pled down.

The whole second half of the column is spent on putting down Mr. Zappala and championing Oren’s friend, Josh Shapiro, for the Democratic nominee for state AG. Which explains the first half of the column.
