Christie selected as USC commission president

Upper St. Clair commissioners opened their first meeting of the New Year with the swearing in of officials elected this past November.
The Honorable D. Michael Fisher administered the oath of office for incumbent commissioners Russell Del Re, Robert Orchowski and Nicholas Seitanakis, and newly-elected commissioner Ronald Pardini.
Immediately following the swearing in, the board held its reorganization meeting, unanimously electing commissioner Mark Christie as board president and commissioner Rex Waller as vice president.
During the Jan. 4 regular meeting, the board voted to continue until Feb. 1, 2016, public hearings for the Tuscany Pointe Planned Residential Development at 1500 McLaughlin Run Road and for a nonresidential conditional use approval for a religious facility at 1120 Boyce Road.
Also continued until Feb. 1 was final land development approval for a proposed CVS store at the corner of Fort Couch and Washington roads.
The board granted preliminary and final subdivision approval for 2544 Edgewood Drive, where the existing house and detached garage will be demolished and the property will be divided into two single-family residential lots.
Honored during the meeting were the Upper St. Clair girls’ soccer team for its winning the PIAA championship and 2015 USC High School graduate Benjamin Devlin for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout.
