Community Day returning to South Fayette
South Fayette Township is bringing back an event aimed at getting everyone involved. Community Day is returning to the township, though it’s still in the very early stages of planning.
Recreation director Paula Simmons is organizing the project that, with the help of a committee of volunteer residents and business, will bring together the South Fayette community for a day of fun and learning.
“We’ll have multiple vendors,” Simmons said, “local organizations, local businesses, activities, entertainment. Everybody in the community can come out and just have fun and get to meet new people and learn about local businesses.”
It’s been a decade since South Fayette has hosted its own Community Day. Simmons, who has helped organize other similar events in the region, is ready for its return.
“It’s something that every community should have,” she said.
Simmons is in the process of forming the planning committee, and hopes to have enough volunteers to begin meeting to organize vendors, sponsors, entertainment and volunteers at the end of the month.
“I hope that there’s residents and local businesses out there that want to get involved,” she said. “I hope that this is something that’s a community effort.”
