Bethel Park

Retail theft: William Laur, 37, of Bethel Park, was arrested Jan. 16 following a request for assistance from the Walmart loss prevention officers. According to reports, Laur was charged with retail theft and possession of drug paraphernalia via summons.

Cecil Township

DUI, gun charges: Jeffrey Carl Schillo, 57, of 36 Henderson Drive, Canonsburg, was arrested early Jan. 9 by Cecil police after police said he nearly struck a township police cruiser during a traffic stop at Henderson Drive and Morganza Road. Police said they spotted him driving after getting a call to remove him from his residence. Once Schillo was placed in the cruiser on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, police said they spotted a Ruger revolver between the driver’s seat and center console of his truck. Police said three rifles, three shotguns and a marijuana pipe also were found in the truck. Police said Schillo’s blood-alcohol content was almost double the 0.08 percent limit at which intoxication is presumed. He was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, careless driving, loitering and prowling at night, carrying a firearm without a license and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on $5,000 unsecured bond.

Mt. Lebanon

Child pornography: Police arrested Zachary Starr, 43, of 901 Old Hickory Road, on Jan. 7 and charged him with dissemination of photos and videos, child pornography and criminal use of a communication facility, police said.

Habitual offender: Scott Lane, 31, of 119 Central Square, Apt. 1, Pittsburgh, was arrested Dec. 29 on Bower Hill Road, reports said. He is being charged with DUI of a controlled substance, accidents involving injuries, driving while suspended, possession of a controlled substance, disorderly conduct and habitual offender.

Peters Township

Two-car accident: No one was hurt, but two cars had to be towed following a two-car accident that took place Jan. 11 in the northbound lane of the 3500 block of Washington Road by Wendy’s. According to reports, cars driven by Anthony Kennedy, 43, of Pittsburgh and Jason Smith, 42, of Oakdale, collided, making both vehicles unable to be driven.

Pallets taken: An unknown amount of wooden pallets, valued at $25 each, were taken from Kmart on Washington Road Jan. 11. According to police, two black males in their 20s were told they could not take the pallets. A few minutes later, a store employee saw the men loading the pallets into a lime-green cargo van. The two men then drove away in an unknown direction. The incident remains under investigation.

Car towed: Icy weather conditions were to blame for a two-car accident that occurred Jan. 12 in the 200 block of Timber Lake Drive in Venetia, police said. A car driven by Frank Felicetti, 62, of Venetia, slid into a vehicle driven by Stacey Davis, 46, of Venetia. No one was hurt, but Davis’ car had to be towed from the scene.

Criminal mischief: Sometime between Jan. 9 and Jan. 15 a concrete fountain at a house in the 100 block of Hardwood Drive in Venetia was damaged. The fountain’s cover was removed and several tiers were pushed over. The estimated cost to repair the fountain is $2,500, according to police.

Traffic and marijuana: During a routine traffic stop Jan. 15 in the 3400 block of Washington Road, police discovered the driver, Christos Stavros Semanderes, 23, of 34 Kirkwood Drive, Washington, was in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Semanderes will be charged via summons.

Upper St. Clair

Aggravated assault: Police charged Jason Doetzer of Mt. Lebanon with aggravated assault and trespassing stemming from a Jan. 11 incident in the 1500 block of Redfern Drive. According to reports, Doetzer entered the home and was told to leave by the owner who had a gun. The gun went off, Doetzer fled and was later arrested.
