South Fayette High School expansion plans moving forward

Construction plans for the expansion of South Fayette High School are progressing well after a pre-construction meeting with contractors and Eckles Architecture, according to Cassandra Renninger, architect and project manager at Eckles. With half of the contracts already returned from contractors, South Fayette School Board will be able to authorize the contracts and begin construction.
Services for special inspections and construction testing are also being considered by the board. The testing, which will occur throughout the construction process, includes soil and construction materials and is required by the building code. Prices per unit were compared among three companies, and it was recommended by Eckles that Professional Services Industries is hired for the start of construction.
New parking and drop-off procedures for students and staff during construction have already been implemented. Students, parents and staff were notified via mail and email, and the transition has been smooth. Dismissal procedures will be altered when the cut-through has been built to accommodate buses during construction.
On the district calendar are Family Fitness Night on Jan. 28, the Father/Daughter Dance on Feb. 6 and the Kindergarten Parent Meeting on Feb. 17.
