Underground sport of Extreme Pogo comes to Carrie Furnaces
July 8-9
Extreme Pogo World Championships
Pogopalooza 2016 comes to the apocalyptic setting of the Carrie Furnaces complex in Swissvale on July 8 and 9.
Now in its 12th year, Pogopalooza is the largest pogo stick event on the planet and has been held in 15 cities across three countries since 2004.
The event features athletes jumping over 10 feet in the air on next-generation pogo sticks, throwing tricks and pushing an underground sport lifestyle. Pogopalooza is an action sports competition featuring the freestyle, best trick and high jump events, open to amateur and pro pogo athletes from around the world.
Top pogo stick brands will also offer “learn to pogo” areas, where people of all ages can try and buy the world’s best sticks.
The event will feature local food trucks, local bands and exclusive, discounted tours of the furnaces.
Tickets are $10 to $30, and 50 percent of proceeds will be donated to the Rivers of Steel preservation organization.
