Program highlights local Civil War history

A Civil War Summer
Mt. Lebanon Public Library and the Historical Society of Mt. Lebanon are teaming up for “Civil War Summer,” a series of programs that will highlight local Civil War history. All programs will be held at the library, 16 Castle Shannon Blvd., unless noted otherwise.
• “Pittsburgh on the Eve of the Civil War” will take place at 7:30 pm. July 18.
• Step back in time with one of the Civil War’s greatest leaders when Gettysburg resident Kenneth Serfass portrays Ulysses S. Grant at 7 p.m. July 20.
• “Hands-On History: The Civil War” will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 2.
• Kenneth C. Turner will talk about the history and photos of his co-authored book “The Civil War in Pennsylvania: A Photographic History,” at 7 p.m. Aug. 16.
The lectures are free, and no registration is required.
