June 14, 16 and 19
Spring Walks and Talks
The Upper St. Clair and Mt. Lebanon public libraries end their series of spring walks and talks, with both libraries hosting each of the presentations at their location and then sharing the walks, which will be led by nature guides at three different locations in Upper St. Clair and Mt. Lebanon. All programs are free; registration is required for the walks.
At the final talk, “Edible Wild Plants,” presenter Faith Starr of Living Green with Faith will help attendees deepen their connection to nature by discussing the wild plants growing nearby and detailing which ones are good to harvest. This talk is scheduled for 7 p.m. June 14, at Mt. Lebanon Library, and 7 p.m. June 16, at Upper St. Clair Library. The final walk, “Food under Foot,” takes place 1 to 3 p.m. June 19, at Gilfillan Farm on Rt. 19. Meet in the church lot next to Orr Road. Melissa Sokulski of the Birch Center will teach attendees how to identify edible plants and how to harvest them on this guided walk of the historic Gilifillan Farm.
To register for any of the walks, call 412-531-1912 or 412-835-5540.
