Henry Pearce accomplished a great many things before completing his degree at Seton-La Salle High School.

The Mt. Lebanon resident was a record-setting swimmer, award-winning musician and most recently, an Eagle Scout.

A member of Troop 238, Pearce passed his review after completing his Eagle project. He renovated and improved the trailhead at Beaver Grade Road along the Montour Trail. Pearce rebuilt two large planter boxes and replaced two deteriorated picnic tables with tables and benches. Those he constructed with the help of volunteers and secured with concrete into the ground. He laid mulch, soil, mushroom manure and grass seed. In all, he accrued 152 volunteer hours and more than $1,700 in fundraising.

During his scholastic tenure, Pearce captained the swim team and qualified for the WPIAL championships in the 100-yard backstroke, 200 individual medley and three relays. He holds two SLS school records in the backstroke and 200 free relay. Pearce also was a member of the volleyball team his senior year.

A member of the marching band, Pearce was the percussion leader his junior and senior years at SLS. He was a musician leader, as well. A four-year percussionist in the concert and jazz bands, Pearce played the lead male role in the fall dramas for three years.

Pearce was the beat boxer in the Trebels, a student-run a cappella group that placed first in the 2016 ICHSA quarterfinals and advanced to nationals.

Pearce also worked behind the scenes as a member of the school’s AVTV Club and Stage Crew. A student ambassador, he participated in Rebels for Life and academic games.

Academically, Pearce maintained a 4.25 GPA. He was a member of the National Honor Society and English National Honor Society.

After a summer of working as a lifeguard and an assistant coach at St. Clair Country Club, the St. Bernard Parish member will attend Penn State University.
