Deadline for AOTY nominations is March 30
March 30 is the deadline to nominate students for The Almanac’s Athlete of the Year.
A nomination form can be found on page 33 or by following the link or.formstack.com/forms/athlete_of_the_year for the online ballot.
To be eligible, an athlete must maintain at least a passing grade in his classes and must have participated in at least on sport.
Readers are reminded that this is not a popularity contest. Once an athlete is nominated, the student’s name will be placed on a preliminary ballot where a committee will review the resume and vote to cull the field down to a Top 10 for both males and females.
These top 10 finalists along with the Most Valuable Players for each of the scholastic sports offered by the WPIAL will be recognized and honored at the 26th annual Premier Performers All-Sports Banquet, sponsored by The Almanac. This year’s event will be held at 630 p.m. May 22 at the at the Crowne Plaza Hotel & Suites Pittsburgh South in Bethel Park.
