Peters Township woman accused of ‘huffing’

A McMurray woman was arrested Monday by South Strabane Township police after they reportedly found her “huffing” an aerosol cleaner for the third time in four days.
The first contact township police had with Lindsay P. Adams, 39, of 101 Lightholder Drive, was Friday night when they received a report of a woman “huffing,” or inhaling an aerosol, in a restroom at Walmart, Trinity Point.
She was reportedly conscious but incoherent.
Sgt. Michael Manfredi found her in a stall with a white bag containing six cans of “Dust Off,” a product used to clean computer keyboards. Her speech was slurred and she appeared to be under the influence, police said.
Adams was taken to her car, where officers found at least four empty cans on the passenger side door. She was taken to a friend’s home in South Strabane.
Early Sunday, police were called to the Walmart parking lot to check on the well-being of a woman in the back of a parked vehicle. Police reportedly could see Adams inhaling from a can. There were at least six more cans on the floor. She was taken to Washington Hospital for an evaluation.
Less than 24 hours later, police were called when Adams purchased more of the cleaner at Walmart and was walking through the lot. Police found her behind a dumpster next to another Trinity Point business. She had one can that was almost empty and two full cans. Police took her into custody.
Adams was arraigned before District Judge Traci McDonald on three counts each of illegal use of certain solvents, public drunkenness, possessing instruments of a crime and disorderly conduct. She was placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond. Adams is scheduled for a May 23 preliminary hearing before District Judge Jay Weller.
